The Society was founded in 1923 to enter a team in the inaugural Halford Hewitt tournament. There are now teams in five inter-school tournaments:- Halford Hewitt (ten man scratch matchplay); Grafton Morrish (six man stableford qualifier and scratch matchplay); Bernard Darwin (six man over 55 scratch matchplay); Senior Darwin (four man over 65 scratch matchplay) and the Very Senior Darwin (two over 75 scratch foursome stableford pairs).
There are also a number of matches against other Societies as well as the Spring and Autumn meetings. These meetings are played at two very different links courses: Royal St George's, Sandwich and Royal West Norfolk, Brancaster, both of which include black tie society dinners in the clubhouse. The Rix-Hill matchplay lasts throughout the year with the final being played at Valderrama, Spain. You may be surprised to know that all the events other than the scratch tournaments mentioned above are predominantly supported by high handicap players.
